As the title of this book itself suggests, the Psicoenciclopedia possibile problematizes the idea of encyclopedic knowledge through the term “possible”. Similar to other books by Gianfranco Baruchello (Livorno, 1924; lives and works in Rome), it uses the alphabet and syntax to destroy the traditional connection between words and images, deconstructing every form of sequential correlation. In this sui generis encyclopedia, the traditional function of captions fail, as does the very concept of thematic order, instead giving rise to the limitless opportunity to create seemingly impossible pairs, creating new, unapproved hypotheses that, however, celebrate intelligence and personal sensibility. Politics and history, dream and repression, nature and the environment, and narrative and memory find, in this work, both entirely new ways to merge and unexpected pairings, creating an editorial embodiment of the tireless curiosity which, over the years, has led the author to explore every aspect of knowledge.
