Le fiabe sono vere… Storia popolare italiana
Until March 1st, 2026
From 24 July 2025 to 1 March 2026, the MUCIV-Museo delle Civiltà presents the exhibition Fairy Tales Are True… Italian Folk History: a journey weaving together past and present, memory and contemporary life, individuals and communities, History and stories, culture and nature, offering an immersive experience that makes Italian folk traditions accessible, disseminates knowledge, and encourages reflection on the role these traditions can play in contemporary society.
Organised by the Directorate-General for Museums of the Italian Ministry of Culture and curated by Massimo Osanna (Director General of Museums) and Andrea Viliani (Director of MUCIV), together with a multidisciplinary team from the Directorate-General for Museums, MUCIV-Museo delle Civiltà, and ICPI-Istituto Centrale per il Patrimonio Immateriale, the exhibition—created in collaboration with Cristiana Perrella and featuring exhibition design by Formafantasma, co-designed by architect Maria Rosaria lo Muzio—presents itself as a true manifesto of public culture, redefining the museum’s role as a space-time accessible to the multiplicity of contemporary audiences.
