Paleo-Ethnology Laboratory

The Paleo-Ethnology Laboratory promotes research on recoveries from new archaeological excavations and on the Prehistoric and Protohistoric Collections stored in the repositories and displayed in the Museum of Civilizations, and collaborates with other Italian and international scholars in related research. In particular, the laboratory:Supports the permanent and temporary exhibitions organized by the Museum of Civilizations and the loan of objects for exhibitions organized by other Italian and foreign institutes;

• Carries out actions for storage, display, inventory and protection of prehistoric and protohistoric materials; researches archival documentation, selects and studies archaeological materials for cataloguing campaigns and graphic and photographic documentation, coordinates conservation-restoration operations;
• Collaborates in the editing of institutional publications and exhibition catalogs;
• Participates in national and international excavation campaigns conducted by the Museum of Civilizations and in collaboration with territorial superintendencies and other research organizations;
• Collaborates with university faculties of prehistory and protohistory, supporting internships and studies aimed at undergraduate, master’s and doctoral theses.
